About this event
Aging is beyond our control, but how we age is up to us
This series invites you to explore aging as a spiritual journey of becoming. Together, we will look beneath the surface of our lives and explore the experiences, relationships, beliefs, and stories that have shaped us. Through reflection, conversation, spiritual practices, and creative exploration, we will consider what it means to age with greater awareness, curiosity, compassion, and peace.
We will explore archetypes and the roles we have played throughout our lives, asking whether some of those roles still serve us—or whether it is time to step into something new. We will explore our shadows, those parts of ourselves we may have hidden, rejected, or struggled to accept, and consider what wisdom they might hold for us.
Through life review, we will revisit significant moments and turning points, honoring both the joys and the wounds that have shaped our stories. We will explore what it might mean to create an inner peace treaty with ourselves—to make room for the contradictions, regrets, losses, strengths, and imperfections that make us human.
As we enter this season of life, we will ask important questions about purpose: What still calls to us? What gives our lives meaning? What gifts are waiting to be shared? And what might God be inviting us into now?
We will also explore the sacred work of letting go—of expectations, old identities, regrets, relationships, possessions, and ways of being that may no longer fit. Along the way, we will consider the healing possibilities of self-forgiveness and the freedom that can come when we make peace with our past.
Our journey will include an exploration of dreams and rituals as ways of listening to our deeper selves and creating meaningful markers for transition and change. We will discover simple spiritual practices that can help us pay attention, remain grounded, celebrate what has been, and welcome what is still unfolding.
This is not about finding a way to stop aging. It is about discovering how to age consciously, courageously, and joyfully.
Come with your stories, your questions, your hopes, and your uncertainties. Come as you are. Together, we will explore what this season of life might be asking of us—and what beautiful possibilities may still lie ahead.
By the end of this series, participants will:
• Recognize the inner psychological and spiritual changes that accompany aging.
• Explore their archetypes, shadow, and life story with greater compassion.
• Identify practices that help release expectations and embrace their unique purpose in the second half of life.
The cost of the series in $60 and includes lunch. Please call 319-395-6700 or email ecospirit@prairiewoods.org if you have any questions.
