- ➤ Cedar Valley Humane Society is set to close beginning Monday, Feb. 2 for two weeks as it moves to a new adoption facility next door; adoptions will continue by appointment while renovations convert the old shelter for stray animal holding and public services, with full operations planned later this year. - ➤ Fareway presented a check for nearly $289,000 on Wednesday — funds raised via a round-up campaign that began Nov. 24 in the Des Moines metro — to help the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves Toys for Tots Foundation buy over 36,000 toys for the upcoming holiday season. KCCI
