EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Cedar Rapids School Board is voting tonight on its preferred consolidation plan that could close five schools to address a multi-million dollar budget gap. Board members will invite further public input before finalizing the decision in April, with consolidation set for the 2027–2028 school year. KCRG
- ➤ Wilson Middle School has significantly improved student behavior after adding support staff (office referrals dropped 73%) and building stronger teacher-student relationships, officials said. The school board will review consolidation plans today that could shift grade levels in the building. The Gazette
- ➤ Across Iowa, school districts are cutting staff and programs due to falling enrollment and limited state funding. The Cedar Rapids school board is expected to choose one of three proposals today to close schools and save $19 million plus other districts will take similar cost-saving measures. The Gazette
