- ➤ Crazy Plant Gal (located at 821 3rd Ave SE) opened on February 12 in an old mansion built in the 1870s, offering a wide variety of houseplants, t-shirts, and handcrafted items; the owner described the space as 'haunted enough to be interesting but still friendly.' KDAT
- ➤ The new Ulta Beauty store in Westdale Town Center at 3915 Westdale Parkway SW is open and will host its grand opening celebration with a 20% discount on qualifying purchases from Friday, Feb. 20 to Sunday, Feb. 22. Shoppers should review exclusions before redeeming the offer. KDAT

- ➤ At the Capitol Tuesday, Cleaner Iowa revealed 72% of Iowans support maintaining or expanding the bottle bill that returns a nickel for beverage containers. Lawmakers advanced House Bill (661) Monday to broaden eligible containers, though some retailers oppose the change. CBS 2 Iowa
- ➤ Governor Reynolds and Iowa lawmakers have proposed changes to tobacco taxes that would charge an extra 65 cents per pack on cigarettes and a tax on vapes to fund cancer research, but critics say nitrate runoff (a concern from farming) in drinking water may be driving Iowa's high cancer rates.
