  • In 1934, local artist Grant Wood used unexpected spaces for art by turning an empty University of Iowa swimming pool into a mural studio and later a former operating room in East Hall into a free clinic for artists + an exhibition followed at the Carnegie Public Library to showcase his work. His innovative method helped both beginners and experienced painters learn new techniques.  The Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Developers must pay a $60,000 base fee (increasing by $20,000 per 100 acres) to apply for a data center in rural Linn County, with supervisors approving the fee on Feb. 25. County staff say the move follows new zoning rules and signals readiness to receive project applications.  CBS 2 Iowa
