- ➤ Dozens plunged into icy water in Cedar Rapids on Saturday to raise funds for Special Olympics Iowa; each participant raised at least $75 to support year-round sports training for over 10,000 athletes. Sponsors, including the Police Protective Charity, backed some 50 plungers returning for the first time in a decade. KCRG
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Iowa legislators advanced a bill that would offer state grants and up to $20 million in tax credits to gaming companies that hire mostly local workers. A PlayStation social media manager testified that the incentives could attract top talent and help build a robust local gaming industry. Radio Iowa
- ➤ Nearly 60 Iowa National Guard soldiers returned to Cedar Rapids after a nearly year-long deployment in the Middle East supporting Operation Inherent Resolve — where they helped reduce ISIS operations. The welcome home ceremony honored two soldiers killed in action and marked their transition back to civilian life. KCRG

- ➤ National Nutrition Month encourages Cedar Rapids residents to add at least three colors to their meals for a nutrient boost by promoting red, orange, and green foods for heart, vision, and immune support * frozen and canned vegetables also count as nutritious options. KCRG

- ➤ Twin Pines Golf Course will reopen on March 16 as Spring Break begins, offering a full course, driving range, and Mini Pines Miniature Golf Course in Cedar Rapids. The facility will operate daily (9:00 a.m. until dusk) with tee times available through local booking. KWWL
