- ➤ A Cedar Rapids restaurant called Lacayo at 1202 3rd St SE announced on March 19th that it will close in April with its final day set for Friday, April 11th. Owners Daniel and Armina Lacayo invite customers to visit and enjoy some of their best dishes over the next few weeks. KDAT
- ➤ A small Wisconsin pizza chain, Ian's Pizza, will open its first Iowa location inside Lion Bridge Brewery at 59 16th Ave. SW in Cedar Rapids later this spring — the new location, its seventh overall, will offer a menu of pizzas and salads after the brewery completes its kitchen renovations while providing delivery and pickup options. General Manager Dave Spooner, an Iowa native, said the expansion brings a unique taste to the community. KDAT

- ➤ The trial for Dakota Van Patten, charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping and conspiracy after Melody Hoffman's body was found at Amana Lily Lake, has been delayed because of a scheduling error and will now begin Sept. 15 at 9 a.m.—a case management conference is set for July 25 at 2 p.m. at the Linn County Courthouse in Cedar Rapids. - ➤ On Thursday, Iowans gathered at the Iowa Capitol to celebrate the state’s parks, trails and outdoor spaces while urging lawmakers to protect these natural resources. A study showed that outdoor recreation contributes $8 billion to the economy with parks adding $3 billion, and officials stressed the need to fund the conservation trust fund. KCRG

- ➤ A court rejected a request to pause the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission’s approval of a gaming license for Linn County needed for the Cedar Crossing Casino under construction in Cedar Rapids—petitioners Riverside Casino and the Washington County Riverboat Foundation raised concerns of revenue loss and layoffs, but the court found no clear evidence of irreversible harm. - ➤ The building that once housed The Bohemian restaurant in the Newbo district at 1029 Third Street SE sold for $250,000 on February 24 as recorded by the Linn County Assessor's Office. The property was bought by a Florida-based business run by brothers Kevin & Kory Nanke, who also operate several local restaurants. KDAT
