Good morning, Cedar Rapids.

The Cedar Rapids Fire Department responded Saturday afternoon to a grass fire at the intersection of Highway 30 and Edgewood Road, quickly extinguishing the flames while officials remain unsure if a discarded cigarette sparked the blaze.

Iowa Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks did not attend a town hall set up by local voters to discuss federal cuts, funding freezes, and alleged illegal firings of government workers—labor groups instead hosted their own meeting where 7,000 federal employees shared their concerns. Her office will receive these concerns as she has not scheduled any public events during this congressional recess.
