- ➤ Rock the Block will return to NewBo City Market in Cedar Rapids this spring and summer with free Friday night concerts from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The series will begin on May 9th with acts including Jordan Messerole, Matthew Kane and the Band Greenbrier, Vinyl Alibi and more—rules ban outside food and require on-site alcohol consumption. - ➤ More than 100 community members gathered outside the Cedar Rapids ICE office Monday to support Reina Marroquin, a Guatemalan mother of two who had her check-in unexpectedly moved up and was quickly released with her children. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Seventeen candidates applied to fill the Linn County District 2 supervisor seat after current supervisor Ben Rogers announced his departure last month, drawn in part by the job’s salary of more than $135,000 and the appeal of not having to run a campaign. County leaders will meet Wednesday to interview candidates + address potential state law changes that could require a special election and add about $100,000 to county costs. KCRG
