- ➤ A four-hour standoff on Sunday morning ended peacefully when Cedar Rapids police arrested Jeremy Davis, 42, after he made violent threats and retreated to a home and garage on the 1300 block of Burch Avenue Northwest—he now faces charges of domestic assault with a weapon, interference with official acts with a weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia. - ➤ On Feb. 26, a Marion man named Trenton Eiben left the Cedar Rapids police station before he intentionally drove his Pontiac Sunfire at nearly 100 mph into westbound lanes on First Avenue E — crashing into a Chevrolet Traverse driven by 18-week pregnant Merylin Louise Bowden, whose serious injuries caused the premature termination of her pregnancy.
