Good morning, Cedar Rapids.

The Eastern Iowa Arts Academy will turn the old Arthur Elementary School into a new arts center using a $300,000 matching grant from the Hall-Perrine Foundation — the funds will pay for making the building ADA-accessible with new classrooms, music rooms, gathering spaces, and an elevator. The first $150,000 will be released by the end of 2025 and the rest mid-2026 if the academy meets its fundraising goals.

A Fareway cooking segment shares four quick toast topping ideas for breakfast, lunch or a snack—Banana Nutella toast with banana slices and chocolate sprinkles, hummus toast with arugula topped by egg or tomato, cucumber toast with whipped cream cheese and tuna, and berries toast with cream cheese dusted with cinnamon.

The Izaak Walton League held a groundbreaking Saturday for $300,000 renovations that will improve the trap shooting range for high school and college teams in Cedar Rapids.

The upgrades will open up the space, make it safer for spectators and handicap accessible + the work will be finished by fall so teams can practice more disciplines.
