- ➤ Seventeen-year-old Marek Dessimoz rescued a homeowner from her burning house on Sunday in Johnston by alerting her and helping her escape as flames quickly spread after a propane tank exploded (her cat survived, though the home was lost). KCRG
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Iowa households now spend $1,435 more per month than in 2020 as rising inflation pushes up grocery and gas prices, a report shows. Gas prices rose over 28% from last year — forcing many residents to cut back on extra spending. KCRG

- ➤ During skin cancer awareness month, Clay County nurse Darcie Follon advises residents to check their skin monthly after melanoma cases increased 169% since 1992.
