- ➤ AAA is launching its free Tow to Go service for impaired drivers in Iowa from 6 p.m. Friday, May 23 to 6 a.m. Tuesday, May 27 — the service sends tow trucks to move both drivers and their vehicles safely within a 10-mile radius and cannot be scheduled in advance. CBS 2 Iowa

- ➤ On Monday afternoon, firefighters arrived at around 2:30 p.m. to a Cedar Rapids home on the 1700 block of Timber Ridge Drive after a wood stove chimney caught fire — homeowners and pets evacuated safely though the house sustained major damage. KCRG

- ➤ Three brothers (Christian, Pierre, and Azane) are scheduled to face trial on July 15 for charges including involuntary manslaughter, assault causing bodily injury, and false imprisonment after police said their 18-year-old sibling died last November on Roemig Street when he stopped eating and drinking following a restraint. - ➤ Iowa school districts can now form safety assessment teams that share student details with law enforcement—mental health professionals and social service agents—to better help students facing crises. Center Point Urbana is forming an internal committee to plan how it will work with local agencies under the new law. KCRG
- ➤ On Monday the Linn County Board of Supervisors passed a resolution urging Cedar Rapids Community School District voters to sign a petition for a bond referendum that would pay for school upgrades.
