  • A nonprofit is building an AI Micro Park at 605 15th St SE in the Wellington Heights neighborhood to offer free access to a two-level AI Creator Lab, outdoor AI kiosks, and an IoT community garden. The park will open in August—bringing new learning and creative opportunities to local residents—while the Big Bang Foundation raises funds for construction and upkeep.  KCRG

  • A man was taken to UnityPoint Health - St. Luke’s Hospital for smoke inhalation after a fire broke out in a manufactured home on the 100-block of Ann Street SW on Thursday morning, with firefighters quickly controlling the blaze while investigators said improperly discarded smoking materials caused the fire and a dog escaped safely.  KCRG

  • Cedar Rapids has expanded its Customer Self-Service Portal—now residents can apply for, track, and pay for a wider range of permits and licenses online.   • Mercy Cedar Rapids invites cancer survivors and those facing a new diagnosis to a special event at the Hall-Perrine Cancer Center – visitors can meet with doctors and survivors from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and several hundred people are expected to attend.  KCRG
