Heavy rains flooded local streets, and on Friday the Animal Rescue League of Iowa worked with emergency officials to rescue animals and help families who evacuated, now caring for 14 pets & providing temporary pet housing and supplies.

Residents gathered at Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival on Saturday to celebrate America’s 250th birthday.

Attendees enjoyed a car show and pop-up vendor market and watched fireworks while sharing reflections on the nation’s history.
