- ➤ Lamont'e O'Neal Jr., a Cedar Rapids man, was booked into Johnson County Jail on July 7—he faces felony charges including attempted murder, kidnapping and willful injury stemming from a July 2 highway shooting near mile marker 93 in Iowa City. CBS 2 Iowa

- ➤ College Community School District is updating early learning with new hands-on spaces at Prairie Early Childhood Center and preschool wrap-around classrooms. The new areas include a Construction Zone and a Farmers Market (designed to boost problem-solving and social skills) as part of the district's effort to support holistic development. KWWL
- ➤ The University of Northern Iowa will offer in-state tuition to new undergraduate students from Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Wisconsin starting this fall so they can access affordable higher education. UNI expects both in-state and neighboring state students to pay around $10,201 as the Board of Regents finalizes tuition rates on July 30—efforts by the UNI Foundation aim to boost enrollment and meet regional workforce needs.
