- ➤ A Cedar Rapids woman faces two counts of child endangerment after leaving a newborn and a 6 year old in a locked hot car at Walmart—witnesses said the children stayed inside for about 10 minutes as the car reached 100 degrees. CBS 2 Iowa

- ➤ A Cedar Rapids road, Otis Road SE, was closed Wednesday due to potential flooding that raised safety concerns for drivers. The closure will last about one week—drivers can still use the south Cargill entrance and the Prairie Park Fishery entrance. KCRG
- ➤ Meteorologist Alexis Jimenez from the National Weather Service said a storm that moved over Iowa Monday night into Tuesday was designated a derecho after wind speeds reached 99 mph, leaving thousands without power and causing extensive damage.
