- ➤ The St. Jude Sweet Corn Festival—held at 50 Edgewood Rd NW in Cedar Rapids—will run Friday, August 8th from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday, August 9th from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday, August 10th from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. The festival will offer live music, carnival rides, raffles with a grand prize of a 2025 Chevy Trailblazer or $20,000, food stands with clear bag rules, and shuttle service from off-site parking. - ➤ Alice Tritle, a 95-year-old volunteer who filled Mercy Medical Center’s halls with piano music for 35 years, will play for the last time on August 7—she will keep sharing her music at the St Jude Sweet Corn Festival next weekend before moving out-of-state. KCRG

- ➤ Linn County teenager 19-year-old Blake Stejskal from Lisbon caused a crash in downtown Iowa City on Monday at 1:24 a.m. after he put an unoccupied vehicle in reverse and jumped from the moving car—damaging a pedestrian control device and facing charges for operating without consent, criminal mischief and OWI. - ➤ Iowa native Carrie Mardorf became Cedar Rapids’ new Parks & Recreation director in late June and will visit all 107 city parks in her first 100 days to update the aging parks master plan. The Gazette
- ➤ U.S. Senate candidate J.D. Scholten released his farm platform today and said a few big companies now control much of the food supply, hurting small farmers. He noted that 90% of Iowa hog farms have closed over 40 years while farmers get only 14% of every food dollar, and he called for major changes in federal support. Radio Iowa
