- ➤ Market After Dark returns to Cedar Rapids for its 10th year on Aug. 23 from 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.—attendees 21 or older can bring open-container drinks, enjoy live entertainment, and use cashless beer tents; the regular morning market will still take place on Aug. 16. CBS 2 Iowa
- ➤ Cedar Rapids Market After Dark will return Saturday, August 23rd from (6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.) and will feature over 100 vendors, live music, special lighted attractions, games, and a cashless system for beer tents for 21 and older. - ➤ A Cedar Rapids man (convicted in 2021) is now charged with sexually abusing an 8 or 9 year old child in 2014 after his transfer to Linn County Jail on Aug.1 (authorities said a no-contact order has been issued for the victim). The Gazette
- ➤ Officers attempted to stop a vehicle on the southwest side of Cedar Rapids at 5:50 p.m. on Tuesday and, after a chase ended in the 1200 block of 15th Street SE, fired shots that injured the suspect now in the hospital— the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating the incident. - ➤ Cedar Rapids Police officers shot a driver during a chase on Tuesday evening at about 5:50 p.m. on the southwest side of town—officers say the driver was injured and taken to the hospital. KWWL

- ➤ On Tuesday, the Cedar Rapids Fire Department encrypted its scanner radio traffic so that only authorized users can listen; Fire Chief Greg Smith said the move was meant to protect emergency responders even though it may delay rapid public updates during crises. KCRG
- ➤ Linn County is seeking a $20,000 civil penalty from a Minnesota-based company after a County Public Health staff member discovered 40 unpermitted wells drilled by Northern Dewatering on the QTS data center site in Cedar Rapids between May 20 and June 11 with pumping beginning on June 9, and the company is now working to obtain proper permits. - ➤ Linn County Public Health is seeking a $20K penalty from Northern Dewatering for up to 40 unpermitted wells drilled at the QTS data center site in Cedar Rapids—LCPH found the first well on June 24 and discovered more drilled from May 20 to June 11. The county is now working with the company to obtain proper permits and inspections—Supervisor Kirsten Running-Marquardt stressed the need for accountability. KWWL
