- ➤ Miracle League of Linn County is seeking local volunteers to help run weekend events—available shifts include both morning and afternoon slots. Those interested can sign up soon. CBS 2 Iowa
- ➤ Today the annual Five Seasons Stand Down resource fair begins at 9 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Stadium where more than 70 groups provide food, employment and health services to local veterans and people facing homelessness with registration open from 8:45 to 11 a.m. KCRG
- ➤ Veterans Memorial Stadium in Cedar Rapids hosted the free 19th annual Five Seasons Veterans Stand Down event on Thursday—over 90 vendors provided housing help and resources for veterans and civilians at risk of homelessness. - ➤ Cedar Rapids Police said crimes dropped in August — stolen cars fell 39%, thefts from vehicles dropped 23%, and gun violence declined 24% from last year and 65% below the five-year average — and they urged residents to lock doors and secure belongings. CBS 2 Iowa

- ➤ A local Iowa family lost their son to an opioid overdose after a prescription for pain led to a long battle with addiction.
