- ➤ Sleep in Heavenly Peace built 50 beds on Saturday with a group of volunteers in Linn County to help families keep children off the floor. Mark Conzett said the nonprofit has worked for 7 years and gives away between 400 and 500 beds each year—meeting a basic need for many local families. KCRG

- ➤ Festival Latino returns to downtown Cedar Rapids when the free, family-friendly event organized by Latinos Unidos for Community Inclusion will be held at McGrath Amphitheatre on Sept. 13 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The festival celebrates Hispanic heritage (with live music and authentic foods) (as part of National Hispanic Heritage Month).
