- ➤ Orchestra Iowa and its musicians secured a new three-year contract today that brings the largest pay raise in the organization’s history—Board President Jeffery Neilsen emphasized it honors their talent. - ➤ Governor Reynolds issued the 2025 Harvest Proclamation that raises the weight limit for vehicles carrying corn, soybeans, hay, silage, straw, stover, fertilizer, and manure on non-interstate highways to 90,000 pounds—this order will expire on October 18. KCRG
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ After 40 years in northwest Cedar Rapids, Abbe Center for Community Mental Health has moved downtown to a 31,000 square foot building at 615 Fifth St SE—it will open Monday with expanded mental health and substance use treatment and house the 24/7 Iowa Warm Line. - ➤ Hawkeye Downs Raceway in Cedar Rapids returned to dirt track racing for a six‐week series called Dirt at the Downs — 4,000 cubic yards of dirt were brought in with 350 dump truck loads to cover the track — and the series kicks off tonight with a demolition derby to celebrate its 100th anniversary.
