- ➤ Burlington Trailways is closing offices in West Burlington, Burlington, Davenport, Cedar Rapids, and Des Moines which will lead to layoffs for dozens of workers; 47 employees in West Burlington will finish on October 18—while 5 workers in Cedar Rapids are also set to lose their jobs. - ➤ NextEra Energy is weighing plans to restart Iowa's only nuclear plant near Palo by the end of the decade and this move will bring hundreds of high-wage jobs and up to 1,000 temporary construction workers. - ➤ The Indian Creek Watershed Management Authority installed 127 new informational signs across Linn County to alert residents they are entering the local watershed—using a grant from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and work by local public works crews.
