- ➤ A survey by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety found that 96% of local licensed drivers admitted to aggressive driving—such as speeding, red-light running, honking and tailgating—in the past year. The study shows that drivers who experience aggression on the road tend to escalate their behavior and advises everyone to adopt safer driving habits. KCRG

- ➤ Construction is progressing on the Cedar Crossing Casino and Entertainment Center in Cedar Rapids as workers paint walls and lay out parking lots—costing $275 million with plans for restaurants, bars, an arts and cultural center and a STEM learning lab. The facility will open December 31 and will provide $6 million a year to local nonprofits through the Linn County Gaming Association. CBS 2 Iowa
- ➤ Cafe Beignets opened on October 1 and The Grand White Rabbit Tea Company opened on September 27 at Lindale Mall’s food court to serve customers simple treats. - ➤ Cornell College in Mt. Vernon returned a Native American statue to the Muscogee Nation after graduate Natalie Zenk discovered its origins at a burial site in Georgia, and representatives received the statue on campus last week—planning to rebury it. Radio Iowa
- ➤ A list of Halloween events is now available in Linn and Johnson counties with activities planned from early October to Halloween. Several events in Cedar Rapids and nearby towns offer trick-or-treats, parades, costume contests and haunted tours — giving families many safe and fun options this spooky season. KDAT
- ➤ Eastern Iowa Arts Academy is asking for the former Arthur Elementary building to receive local landmark status so its historic exterior remains protected—both the City Planning and Historic Preservation commissions approved the request, and City Council will review it next.
