- ➤ Kirkwood community college’s veterinary technician students are paired with shelter dogs for six weeks to train them for adoption. Program director Jess Forman said local clinics are seeking more graduates + the program helps address a local vet tech shortage while giving shelter animals a better chance at finding homes. KCRG

- ➤ Fareway is teaming up with Pork Producers in October to share a pulled pork recipe called Always in the Freezer Pulled Pork — it uses pork shoulder with a blend of brown sugar, paprika, chili powder and cayenne that cooks in a crock pot for six hours so families can have ready meals in the freezer.
