- ➤ The Old World Christmas Market will return to the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library on Dec. 6 and 7 with free museum admission and vendor markets offering traditional Czech and Slovak treats, holiday crafts, and family activities. - ➤ Cedar Rapids public works crews began pre-treating roads with a new salt brine on Wednesday to stop snow and ice from bonding, as the season’s first significant snowfall is expected this weekend. Street Supervisor Brett Lerch said more than 100 pieces of snow-removal equipment are ready and urged drivers to leave 50 to 100 feet for plows and avoid parking directly across from each other.
