Good morning, Cedar Rapids.

Heavy snow canceled several Small Business Saturday events, but shoppers braved the weather to visit the Made in Iowa Holiday Market in Hawkeye Downs—where nearly all of the 175 vendors stayed open despite about 30 cancellations—while organizers expect a larger turnout as conditions improve. The market is open today from 10 to 4.

Snow began falling Friday night and continued through Saturday, making roads hard to drive on — crews struggled to keep main roads clear while drivers were advised to drive slowly with a full tank and emergency kit.

Residents in eastern Iowa experienced heavy snowfall that reduced visibility and increased travel risks.

The Iowa State Patrol handled 670 calls from noon Friday to 9 p.m. Saturday as a heavy snowstorm made roads slick, resulting in 182 crashes and assistance to 488 motorists — officials urged drivers to slow down and check road conditions since winter weather persisted.

This response shows troopers worked hard to keep Cedar Rapids and nearby areas safe during the storm.

The Waterloo Black Hawks and Cedar Rapids RoughRiders postponed Saturday night’s game due to a snowstorm—tickets remain valid for today’s matchup at 4:05 p.m. at ImOn Ice Arena.

Black Hawks pregame coverage will start at 3:45 p.m. on KCFI radio.
