The airport offers five airlines + 17 nonstop flights that connect the region to destinations across the nation.

Iowa WARN announced that 30 CRST facility employees in Cedar Rapids will lose jobs effective February 1 — part of over 300 planned layoffs nationwide.

The company said it is working with affected workers to help them find new driving opportunities.

Gas prices in Iowa dropped 11.2 cents per gallon over the past week to an average of $2.55 for Cedar Rapids, marking multi-year lows — officials expect rates to remain low into the new year.

Cedar Rapids Community School District faces an $11 million budget gap next year because of ongoing deficits and falling enrollment.

The board is asking staff, families, and taxpayers to join a Community Coalition meeting (Thursday) to help decide which cuts to make.

Farmers can earn an extra $2 per bushel for leaving 6 to 24 corn rows as a natural snow fence—a strategy that cuts DOT snow removal costs; although participation is closed this season, the agency will accept applications next year.

Snow fences slow wind and reduce snow drifts, helping snowplows clear major roads during winter storms.

Cedar Rapids installs these fences (for example, along C Avenue NW and Old Marion Road NE) to keep streets safe during heavy snowfall.

The Iowa Hawkeyes will face Vanderbilt (ranked 14) at the ReliaQuest Bowl in Tampa Bay at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec.
