- ➤ The Cedar Rapids Community School board held a meeting Monday, Jan. 26 at 5:30 p.m. at the Educational Leadership and Support Center on Edgewood Road to discuss the district’s consolidation plan for 2027-28, delaying a vote on school closures until April after cutting nearly $13M from its budget. - ➤ Mercy Medical Center is now offering a new noninvasive ultrasound treatment for localized prostate cancer (Sonablate) through urologist Dr. Matthew Ferroni. The high-intensity focused ultrasound targets only the cancer, aiming to reduce side effects and speed recovery. CBS 2 Iowa

- ➤ RAGBRAI 2026 revealed its 391-mile route with 16,000 feet of climbs, making it the shortest in the event’s 53-year history. The ride will run from July 18-25 from Onawa to Dubuque, and riders can register now for a week of cycling at $250. KDAT
- ➤ Hannah Stuelke, a Cedar Rapids native and senior forward for the University of Iowa, was named Jersey Mike’s Naismith Player of the Week on Monday after a win over Ohio State. The Hawkeyes now hold an eight-game winning streak as they prepare to face USC on Thursday. KCRG
